Once again I have changed my schedule for the comic and the website for the summer. I know I have stated in the past that I was going to do a BSG story arc and a few other things over the course of the summer, well scratch that. That’s not gonna happen, not doing it. Nope.

Instead, in an effort to improve the character and fluidity of the comic I am going to go old school for the summer. I am going to – dare I say it – draw the comic in my sketchbook and post the pencil sketches only. Yes, that’s correct. All hand drawn work. Pencils, lettering, word balloons! It’s madness! MADNESS!

To be honest, this summer looks to be crazy busy with paying freelance gigs as well. Because of this new work my schedule is gonna be tight. But I’ve been toying with doing this for the comic for some time. I really want to get back to daily comic posts, but I just can’t do that with a full color comic. So, in order to bring you guys more comics and still be able to keep my schedule moving forward I am creating what I like to call the Summer Sketchbook Series.

I will post a new comic, drawn and lettered in my sketchbook, five days a week to the website. Some of these comics will be one panel gag comics while others will be in strip form. Because of the sketchy nature of the comics, they will be more lose and I will be trying new things in them as well. I hope everyone likes this experiment and I welcome feed back of all kinds on the comics.

My life schedule is pretty crazy most of the time. I work a full time evening and night job, I work an almost full time schedule freelancing (in the summers anyway), I create this comic on a part time basis (which often times is full time) and I have a pretty active social life. I’ve had friends and family ask me in the past how I get it all done. The short answer is: Willpower.

Sometimes the things you actually get enjoyment out of or enjoy seeing finished aren’t enjoyable at all, sometimes you just have to will yourself to do it. Steven Pressfield says it much better in his article Do It Anyway. If you are a creative of any sort I highly suggest you give it a read.
