Today’s sketch is truly a sketch that I did very quickly because I had, frankly, ran out of time in the day. As you may have noticed I started the summer out with very sketchy, quick drawings and by this month that process had evolved into more refined drawings. But not today. I mean, I like the sketch. I like the loose quality it has to it and the cross-hatching background, but it’s just not as refined as I’ve been doing. At any rate, this week it probably going to be full of sketches like this as I wrap up the Summer Sketchbook Series at the end of this month.
As I have refined and reworked the characters I am making last minute documentation of what the new “style sheets” should try to stick. Michele’s sketch here is the first finalized documentation. Expect the rest of the characters to be up in the same fashion (probably from the waist up mainly) this and next week.
I still need to work on drawing full figures in motion of the characters, but summer is over and time is up, so I will be refining those things as I get the strip back on the ball this fall and winter. I’ve really enjoyed the Summer Sketchbook Series. It has helped me tremendously in many areas of my work on the comic and freelancing. I’ll keep sketching going, but I’ll cover all that next week when I lay down the skinny on the upcoming schedule for this fall
